Who I am

I'm Walt Harper. I've spent years working with real dogs and real families: anxious rescues, stubborn ones, old ones who stopped trusting anybody. I didn't learn what's in this book from a textbook. I learned it by watching what made a dog's breathing settle and their eyes go soft.

I'm not a vet, and when something is medical I'll tell you to call one. What I know is this: the dogs who trust their people most don't have the most expensive toys. Their people do a few small things, every day, without fail.

It comes as a PDF: on your screen and in your inbox the moment your payment clears. Read it on your phone on the couch with your dog beside you, or print the pages you want on the fridge. Fifteen days to change your mind, no questions asked.

Questions dog owners ask me

Is this a training program?
No. There are no drills, no gadgets and no harsh methods in it. It's about understanding what your dog is feeling and answering it: where you put your hands, how you walk in the door, how you leave, what goes in the bowl. Training gets easier on its own when a dog trusts you, and the book covers the calm way to ask for what you want.
Does it replace my vet?
No, and it never pretends to. The food chapters are general information: which kitchen foods are safe in small amounts and which ones are dangerous. Your vet knows your dog, their weight and their health, and anything medical, any change of diet for a dog with a condition, and any emergency goes to them. The book tells you plainly when to pick up the phone.
My dog is a rescue, or already old. Is it too late?
It isn't. Most of what's in here is about the next interaction you have with your dog, not about puppyhood. Older dogs and rescues with a rough start are exactly the ones who notice the difference first, because they've been watching you more carefully than anybody.
Is it just the videos written out?
No. The videos are where the subjects come from; the book goes further into each one, puts them in order and checks every fact about food and safety, so you're not relying on something you half remember from a clip.
How do I get it?
It's a PDF in large type. You get it the moment your payment clears, and it's yours to keep: read it on your phone, your tablet or your computer, or print the pages you want.
What if it isn't for me?
Write to us within fifteen days and you get your money back. No questions asked.

One night there's going to be a storm.

The thunder will start while you're half asleep on the couch, and your dog will be under the coffee table, pressed against the wall, shaking. In that moment you get to show them who you are: the person who laughs and reaches for the phone, the person who fusses, or the calm one who sits down on the floor, keeps their voice low and stays. Your dog is going to remember which one you were.
